Croatia Health & Safety
Violent crime is almost unheard of in Croatia, especially towards tourists, so from this perspective, the country is exceedingly safe to visit. Legacies of war such as landmines can present problems if straying off the beaten track however most tourists tend to stick to the same, well established and safe areas where safety issues are of minimal concern.
No immunizations are necessary for visitors and few threats of serious disease are present. Exceptions are rabies, which can be an issue for those planning to spend any time around animals, and encephalitis carried by ticks which can be a problem if visiting forested areas.
