Cuba Hospital Costs

Cuban hospitals are often visited for specific treatments which are not readily available in North America rather than for general medical care. The main centers attract patients who have been unable to find satisfactory treatment in their home country, especially in that of retinitis pigmentoas, which eventually causes total blindness; the treatment of vitiligo and psoriasis, and treatment of sufferers of strokes and Parkinson’s disease. The majority of treatments cost only one third of the price of the same procedures in North America.

The island’s neurological restoration center is using stem cells in the treatment of those with brain and nerve disorders, something which is highly controversial in the western world. The program cost at this hospital is half that in North America and the level of care unparalleled, with patients being assigned teams of experts, including psychologists and language and physical therapists.
