Cyprus Health & Safety

Being a developed country with relatively low levels of crime, Cyprus presents few risks to visitors from health or safety perspectives. Violent crime is uncommon, especially towards tourists, and petty thieves are perhaps the greatest threat to visitors.

Hospitals are regulated so standards of hygiene are high and visitors run minimal risks of contracting infections. Elsewhere in public eating and drinking establishments, the chances of bacteria-related illnesses are relatively low. There are no immunizations required for a trip to Cyprus although visitors should be aware that rabies is present and avoid touching stray or wild animals.
