France Health & Safety

France’s hospitals, whether public or private, are subject to stringent health and safety regulations so patients can rest easy that they are unlikely to come out with something that they did not go in with. The same regulations ensure that public eating and drinking establishments are clean and hygienic, and unlikely to present risks of bacterial infections.

France is not renowned for being an especially crime-ridden country and by and large, visitors spending time out and about prior to or following medical procedures can do so in a largely comfortable and unthreatening environment. Petty crime exists of course, just as it does anywhere, however visitors can seriously reduce the possibility of being targeted by taking a few simple common sense measures with regards to what they carry and how they carry it while in public places.
