Bangkok Christian Hospital

Bangkok Christian Hospital was founded in 1949, though it traces its own history back to the early work of Dr. (and missionary) Dan Beach Bradley in the mid-19th century. Today the hospital is one of the many facilities in Bangkok offering comprehensive medical care to locals, expatriates and a small number of tourists.

Located on Silom Road, Bangkok Christian Hospital is near Bangkok’s most important financial and entertainment districts. It is within easy reach of major hotels, so tourists can easily receive diagnostic scans and treatment while on holiday in Bangkok.

Bangkok’s medical tourism sector is particularly competitive. Many major hospitals such as Bumrungrad or Bangkok International Hospital are especially conscious of projecting a modern and well-polished exterior to reassure visiting patients. Bangkok Christian Hospital is much more relaxed in this department, though the quality of care remains high.

This may be the best value for money that a medical tourist can receive in Thailand. In a country already known for its competitively-priced healthcare, procedures at Bangkok Christian Hospital are sometimes 30-40 per cent less than those at Bangkok’s other international hospitals. The tradeoff is largely superficial, including marginally less efficiency and lackluster surroundings.

Comprehensive healthcare is available, though most international patients enroll for less critical checkups. The hospital offers extensive health screening packages intended for those aged 45 years and over. Other popular packages include sleep disorder consultations, dental work and refractive eye surgery.

Accommodation at the hospital is not as glamorous as with Bangkok’s other major hospitals. Given Bangkok Christian Hospital’s central location on Silom Road (near a major accommodation district) and the popularity of outpatient procedures, this is seldom an issue.
