India Health & Safety
The streets of Kolkata might seem like a hygiene disaster, but few high end tourists ever experience this and those on medical packages are surprised at the level of comfort and luxury supplied at relatively cheap rates. India’s emerging middle class and booming economy of late has resulted in a surprisingly sterile and modern environment in certain quarters, and the medical tourism packages see to it that you are pampered during your stay.
India is not noted for violent safety concerns and health in the luxury hotels is barely a concern as standards meet international expectations. If you do venture out of this environment however expect to be exposed to the infamous ‘Delhi belly’ at some stage. Northern India gets extremely hot in the summer months, touching 40°C at times. During the monsoons, water-borne maladies become a problem too, so choose your timing well.
