Hotels in Malaysia

Situated in Southeast Asia, the fast growing country of Malaysia has become a popular tourist destination with its varied landscape and rich culture. The capital city, Kuala Lumpur, is a modern city filled with towering skyscrapers and charming street markets. There is an abundance of accommodation on offer from simple guesthouses to some of the most luxurious five-star hotels.

In the north of the country lies the colonial island of Penang, where some interesting architecture, great food and nice beaches can be found. There is a great choice of hotels, guesthouses and beachside bungalows available. The Cameron Highlands, which are situated in the middle of the country, are a great place to enjoy magnificent views, picturesque waterfalls and mountain trekking. Accommodation is mostly modest with simple mountain huts available.

The capital of Malaysia, Kuala Lumpur, is located in the south of the country. The city is a modern-day metropolis but still retains some of its original charm. With many well-known hotels available including, Hilton, Shangri-la, Ritz Carlton and Westin, there is no shortage of places to stay.

There is also an abundance of budget style rooms from guesthouses to hostels. Shopping in the capital is fantastic with great street markets and some great modern malls. Most of the shopping is located in the Chinatown district, which has an abundance of hotels to choose from. The Sentral district of KL is ideally situated near the major transport links of the city and is close to many attractions such as the National Museum and Lake Garden.

With a long coastline, there are plenty of nice beachside towns throughout Malaysia. The island of Penang in the north is a popular tourist spot with some interesting colonial history and its capital, Georgetown, is a pleasant small town filled with restaurants and hotels. Accommodation on the island is plentiful with a great choice from five-star hotels to budget guesthouses.

Malaysia has warm tropical weather year round so there is no bad time to visit. The months from December to February are regarded as the peak season, with many tourists choosing this slightly cooler time of year.
