Mexico Alternative Medicine

For centuries, health-care providers have sought methods with which to treat life-threatening diseases along avenues other than those of traditional science. Modern day treatment alternatives for illnesses like cancer are numerous and continue to increase with Mexico providing some of these services.

Mexico has emerged as a prolific resource of facilities offering alternative medical treatments, from massage to homeopathy to overseas cancer patients. However, the facilities, from the most luxurious to the most basic, seem to often close as swiftly as they open. Some re-open with governmental restrictions imposed upon the types of treatments they can perform, and some do not re-open at all.

While the efficacy of certain non-standard practices occasionally lies in doubt, many who feel that the science of medicine has failed them find the healing that they require in alternative treatments. The programs and treatments offered in Mexico vary greatly.

The use of products that are banned as illegal or harmful in the United States is commonplace in Mexico, as is the employment of untested, and sometimes unbelievable, techniques. The Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana proposes the Love and Compassion Treatment as an alternative to traditional cancer medicine, claiming to treat the person but not the disease.

In Reynosa, the Center for Immuno-Energy Therapy claims to concentrate on the rapid elimination of various forms of cancer using magnetic therapy, photoluminescence of the blood and even a special, undisclosed, method of intra-cancer injections. Even more alternative, the Providence Hospital, just beyond the limits of Tijuana, states that in addition to treating existing cancer, they also provide special vaccinations to those currently without cancer.

Ever more alternative, the Program for Studies of Alternative Medicine, founded in Jalisco in 1985, treats cancer, migraines and lupus using a staggering 216 different techniques including using amino acids, shark cartilage and lasers. Alternative to the extreme, Sanoviv is a medical resort at Rosarita Beach on the Baja coast claiming a beautiful facility with modern approaches to various types of cancer and degenerative diseases. The belief at Sanoviv is that, cleansed of toxins and imbued with nutrients, the body will heal itself.
