Thailand Medical Costs
Thailand’s main medical tourism hub and most advanced infrastructure are located in Bangkok. Most medical services here run at a cost that is about 20 percent higher than in India. However, the tourism infrastructure is more developed and the hospitals in Bangkok are world-renown for the level of hospitality and care that they provide for patients.
Bumrungrad Hospital annually cares for upwards of 400,000 foreign patients, and many of its staff are accredited in the US and the UK. This was also the first hospital in Asia to seek international accreditation. Bangkok General Hospital is second in line, treating 150,000 foreign patients every year.
Prices for some of the more popular treatments are as follows: coronary angioplasty costs a little over US$4,000 (US$41,000 in the US); breast augmentation, US$3,000 (US$10,000 in the US); hip replacement, US$10,000 (US$24,000 in the US); and spinal fusion, US$7,000 (US$62,000 in the US). Dental procedures are also available in these hospitals. A standard root canal ranges from US$150 to US$300; metal or ceramic crowns run around US$400; and just US$40 for standard cleaning. At US$2,400, dental implants in Bangkok hospitals are significantly cheaper than in the US, where you can expect to pay up to US$3,500).
