Medical Travel Thailand

Thailand medical tourism is big business and has really taken off in the last couple of decades. People realized that they could combine having world-class medical treatment at rated hospitals and clinics at a fraction of the cost of having it in the West and with enough money left over to enjoy Thailand’s beaches, entertainment and resorts in addition to the cost of flights.

Bangkok, the Thai capital, has the best hospitals in the country, while Chiang Mai, Koh Samui, and especially Phuket are not far behind. The best private hospitals come with highly qualified doctors and nurses that are fluent in English and state-of-the-art equipment able to carry out even the trickiest, most complex procedures.

Thailand information - most visitors to Thailand, including those from the US and the EU, get a visa on arrival (free of charge), which allows for stays of up to 30 days. Tourist visas are easily obtained at Thai embassies around the world for longer stays. Thailand’s currency is the baht and the best time to go is between November and February (the cool, dry season).

Thailand medical holiday - Thailand is one of the world’s foremost travel destinations. It has fine beaches, almost near paradisiacal islands, cheap quality hotels, excellent entertainment and eating, and hospitable locals.

Thailand health and safety - there are a few things to be aware of when traveling around Thailand. It gets hot and humid, and using sunscreen is a must when on the beach. Avoid hiring a scooter if you have never ridden one before and keep your wits about you around busy nightlife areas in Bangkok, Phuket and Pattaya.

Getting there - flights come into Bangkok’s new Suvarnabhumi Airport direct from Europe and generally via Japan from the US. The flight time from London direct is around 12 hours and around 24 hours from the west coast of America. Phuket Airport is the next busiest airport after Bangkok, with flights arriving from Singapore, Malaysia, other Asian cities, and Australia.

Thailand hotels - Thailand has every type of accommodation available, from cheap backpacker-style guesthouses and beach bungalows that can be had for as little as US$4 or US$5 per night, right up to five-star luxury in all major destinations. Five–star hotels in Bangkok generally start at around US$300 although internet prices can bring this down.
