Vietnam Health Spas

Vietnam is a newcomer to the health spa scene and is still developing its own style. The country’s spas are often attached to hotels or are day spas in the larger cities. But despite the lack of facilities, Vietnam does have a long tradition of massage that helps ease the aches of traveling.

Most of the spas in Vietnam are connected to a resort or hotel. They offer very basic spa treatments compared to the more developed health spas in Europe and America. Traditional massage is the most common form of treatment and can be found in every town for exceptionally low prices.

Beauty treatments are becoming more popular in Vietnam as the massage industry tries to expand its base. Hydrotherapy, reflexology, body scrubs and various facials and body wraps are popular day spa treatments. Packages are not a major part of the health spa scene in Vietnam, though some upscale hotels offer spa vacation packages. Another sector which is gaining strength is the golf and spa package at the nicer golf resorts around the country.

Vietnam doesn’t really have a reputation yet as a health spa destination. Many visitors take advantage of the massage and other beauty treatments offered to pamper themselves; and with such low prices you can really indulge yourself.

Few visitors travel to Vietnam exclusively for a health spa retreat because the industry is still quite undeveloped. Vietnam’s main attractions range from ancient cities such as Hue and Hoi An to bustling Asian metropolises like Hanoi and Saigon. There is also an endless stretch of coastline, the magical Halong Bay and the ethnic hill tribe highlands around Sapa.

There is no regulation yet for the health spa industry in Vietnam as it is still in its infancy. The quality of the facilities and the abilities of the staff vary widely from place to place. In general, the more upscale resorts, hotels and day spas will have the most qualified staff and the best service.
