Last year at MagicCon Las Vegas, Wizards of the Coast unveiled an exhilarating lineup of collaboration sets slated for Magic: The Gathering’s 2025 release. Among these are fan-favorite franchises: Final Fantasy, Spider-Man, and a mystery set. Fast forward to today at the MagicCon Chicago event, and the mystery set’s identity has finally been disclosed—it’s none other than Avatar: The Last Airbender!
A teaser video showcased glimpses of beloved characters and stunning artwork that will appear in this highly anticipated set, which is scheduled to launch on November 21. In addition, fans can look forward to the Final Fantasy set arriving in June, while the release date for Spider-Man remains under wraps.
The 2025 Magic: The Gathering release calendar is also packed with three in-universe sets: Aetherdrift, Tarkir: Dragonstorm, and Edge Of Eternities. During the panel at MagicCon Chicago, participants were treated to a sneak peek of several cards from Tarkir: Dragonstorm, including the highly coveted serialized Headliner card known as Mox Jasper. This marks a significant moment, as it is the first new addition to Magic’s iconic “mox” series since 2020.
In addition to these exciting sets, fans can anticipate fresh cards and expansions inspired by other beloved franchises such as The Walking Dead, Fortnite, Street Fighter, Tomb Raider, Hatsune Miku, The Lord of the Rings, Fallout, and Doctor Who. The Universes Beyond initiative has been instrumental in introducing thrilling new content to Magic: The Gathering, broadening the scope of the game in imaginative and surprising ways.
